DCE HOST NADMO AND VRA FOR A TABLETOP SIMULATION EXERCISE ON FLOOD CONTINGENCY PLAN AND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PLAN FOR THE SHAI-OSUDOKU DISTRICT.

The Chief Executive of the Shai-Osudoku District Assembly Hon. Fred Offei hosted NADMO and VRA for a tabletop simulation exercise on flood contingency plan and emergency preparedness plan for the Shai-Osudoku District.

In his opening remarks,the DCE Hon. Fred Offei thanked VRA and NADMO for choosing the Shai-Osudoku District for the first tabletop simulation exercise on flood contingency plan and emergency preparedness plan.

He further stated that the district was grateful and promised to follow the plan accordingly to make sure disasters are dealt with to the latter.

The Deputy Director for NADMO Mr. Seji Saji commended the Shai-Osudoku district for how they handled the Akosombo dam spillage.

He said the district’s report was used as a case study for the other affected districts during the spillage. Moreover, the simulation exercise was to test the flood contingency plan and the district’s emergency preparedness, hence all stakeholders should get involved to make sure the exercise comes to a successful end.

A representative from the World Health Organization (WHO) Mr. Patrick Agbevor said the World Health Organization was happy to be part of the simulation exercise since human life and wellbeing were paramount to them.

All stakeholders contributed massively and swiftly to make sure it was successful. All the assessors gave their thoughts and what should be improved on. The team promised to finalize the district contingency plan and make it available to the district NADMO director Mr. Nana Asante to be distributed to all relevant stakeholders.

The DCE Hon. Fred Offei thanked the team for their precious time and for making sure the exercise was successful. He promised that the District Assembly would always hold itself in readiness to make sure disasters are tackled swiftly.
