NCCE OF SHAI-OSUDOKU DISTRICT HOLDS INTER-PARTY DIALOGUE MEETING.
The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) of the Shai-Osudoku District has organized an inter-party dialogue meeting on Tuesday 27th August,2024 at the Dodowa Area council.
The event was on the theme “Together we can build Ghana,so get involved’’.
The District Director for NCCE Madam Janet Wahiermeh thanked the various stakeholders for making time to attend this important meeting.
She emphasized that Shai-Osudoku District is expecting an incident free elections in the upcoming general elections so we can all continue enjoying the peace we have now in the district.
She pleaded with all the political parties to be tolerant and make sure they educate their followers to desist from violence before,during and after the elections.
The Deputy Police Commander for Dodowa Mr. Ahenkorah explained some of the things the political parties need to do to avoid electoral violence and how to coordinate their activities before,during and after elections.
The former Metro Director for NCCE, Mr. Ebenezer Tetteh-Wayo took participants through misinformation and disinformation and how to deal with them during the electoral period.
He further admonished political parties and individuals and followers to verify any information before taking any action that would lead to violence.
He said all stakeholders should be prudent in dealing with information before,during and after elections.
Addressing the issue of monetization in politics, he advised political parties, individuals and followers to be careful when accepting any money during election period because it could lead to violence and even death if care is not taken.
“ We should be mindful when taking this money because it comes with conditions. Most of these politicians try to use money to buy our votes but we must be wise”, he emphasized.
The chairman for the meeting, Hon. Noah Sabutey who doubles as the Presiding Member of Shai-Osudoku District Assembly cautioned all stakeholders to desist from any violence related activities before,during and after the elections.
The various political party representatives signed a peace pact to ensure there is peace before,during and after the elections in the Shai-Osudoku constituency.
