THE STATUS OF AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT
a.Shai-Osudoku district is the largest in GA/R in terms of land size (about 968.36 sq. km)
b.Occupies 29.8% of entire GA/R
c. The District was re-demarcated in June 2012 when it was carved out of the former Dangme West District
d.Population of about 62,131 & Predominantly Rural( Source: (Projected) SODA DPCU,2017).
e.Farmer population of 36,408.
f.Main activities cut across all sectors of National Economy but dominated by agriculture. Farmers are mostly Small scale holders (0.4 – 1.0 hectare)

- Facilitate Production of Agric Raw Material
- Strengthen Institutional Capacity
- Contribute to Policy Formulation through Data Gathering
- Establish, Strengthen & Maintain Intra & Inter Institutional Linkages
Agriculture in the District
4 main Areas; Crops, Livestock, Fisheries & Processing involving the 2 production zones.
All these areas are manned by District Agricultural Officers.
7 main Units in the Department namely; MIS, Crops, Livestock, Veterinary, Extension, PPRSD & WIAD
The department has a staff strength of 32
Fisheries is no more a mandate of DOA but still important to District Economy
