SHAI-OSUDOKU DCE  MEETS WITH VRA REPRESENTATIVES..

 
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Shai-Osudoku District Assembly, Hon.Fred Offei,has met with representatives of the Volta River Authority(VRA)on Wednesday 10th April 2024 at the District Assembly Conference room to discuss how to regulate the dredging activities of some companies along the river banks.

The Project Manager for VRA,Mr.Andreas Andoh,stated that most of the dredging activities carried out by these companies,especially Z&J are causing water pollution and sound pollution adding that their dredging activities are not done to any profile.

He further stated that the meeting was called so that they could find a solution to these dredging activities and seek the assistance of the   District Assembly in resolving the issue.

He said VRA did a post-flood survey to ascertain what did not go well during the flooding and to make sure such activities were curtailed. 

He further stated that the dredging activities needed to be done to a particular profile to avoid future damage to people and their properties along the rivers in the event of a potential reccurrence.

In his closing remarks, the DCE assured the representatives from the VRA that the Assembly would make sure the parties involvedment with VRA to regulate the dredging activities to conform with the standards of VRA to protect and preserve our waterbodies. He further stated that this should be done with cautioning order not toput people out of business.
