Aggrieved Youth Group Advised to Remain Calm to Pave Way for Development.

Some aggrieved youth group in the Shai- Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region who were bent on embarking on a demonstration over the construction of a National Infection Disease Control Centre in the district have been prevailed upon to rescind their decision to pave way for development to take place.

They have also been advised to be agents of development and support well-intentioned initiatives that would uplift the district rather than opposing developmental initiatives.

The Chief of Dodowa Nene Okukurabour Tei Agyeman V gave the advice at a District Security Committee( DISEC) meeting held at Dodowa in Accra.

He said the construction of the centre would serve a greater purpose to the community as it would help contain future infections. Adding that it is a project being undertaken across the country.

He stated unity was a crucial element for development to take place in any society adding that "development of the district can never take place if we continue such negative tendencies".

He advised the youth to seek clarification on any issue from appropriate authorities and not take the law into their own hands.

Commenting on the history of the area.

The Superintendent of Shai Osudoku district hospital Doctor Kennedy Brightson urged the group to refrain from such tendencies which retards progress to a large extent.

The District Police Commander reminded the youth group that, there are laws that guide all public actions such as demonstrations and that if they were resolved on embarking on demonstration, they were supposed to notify the police in advance without which their actions would be illegal.

He further cautioned them to follow due process in similar future actions to avoid having a brush with the law.

At the end of the session, sanity prevailed and the youth group vowed to be cooperative adding that, they would offer moral and physical support to the project to ensure its successful completion.
