Celebration of 2018 Annual Aadegbor Djehayem Festival
The 2018 annual Aadegbor Djehayam festival celebrated by the people of Osudoku has taken place on the 29th of September this Saturday. The event which was organised by the Nene President and his planning committee had dignitaries like the Attorney General, Hon.Gloria Akuffo, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Hon. Dr. Ziblim Bari Idi, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Daniel Akuffo, the Member of Parliament for Shai- Osudoku, Hon. Linda Akweley Ocloo and many others.
Nene Aadegbor Ngmongmowuyaa Animle VI, the Paramount Chief of Osudoku, speaking at the event, acknowledge the President for first giving them a District Chief Executive and also for the massive development in the community within their short term of being in office.
The District Chief Executive for Shai- Osudoku, Hon. Daniel Akuffo, addressing the Chiefs and people of Osudoku, showed how impressed he was with the Nene and his planning committee for a much better planning of this year’s festival and asked the people to be united as occasions like this bring families together.
“I know for sure how the Osudoku people are bound together as a people and I am expecting this festival to even bring you closer than before. I am optimistic that through unity we can achieve more laurels together and am entreating everybody to come on board.”
He added that, the building of the CHIPS compound, and completion of the Osuwem Basic school is not the end of his good works as more developmental programs was in the pipeline. He pleaded with the President of the Traditional council and his Chiefs resolve issues for the early take of the Mountain Yogaga paragliding school which was due to his proposal sent to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
“The above notwithstanding, we have also initiated new projects including roads, security posts, electricity extension and upgrading especially at Asebi, Apese near Agomeda, Avakpo, Volivo, Volivo Lanor, Ayeborm, Asutuare, Yokpe and Yokonya.”
He entreated, the chiefs to desist from the quick release of Lands, and the people from land guard actives as it was unlawful and anyone caught will be dealt by according to law. He asked them to take advantage of the ‘planting for food and jobs’ and ‘planting for jobs and investment’ policy which are intended to boost agricultural production as well as provide employment in the District and also the youth and parents to take advantage of the free Senior High School and the Double Track System Programme
Before ending his speech, he asked the people to make sanitation a priority and also due to the increasing rate of arm robbery in the district, Police Posts and Barriers are being put up to curb it. He also presented some jerseys as well as trophy to the Osudoku football team.
Hon. Linda Akweley Ocloo, Member of Parliament for Shai- Osudoku, who was also featured speaker at the event, recommended the Chiefs for this year’s theme which was “Uniting for the progress of Osudoku and Ga Adangme” as it as well thought through as it came in time when cultural values are being undermined and asked them to be united as it helps bring development.
“the cultural value and the unity is an integral approach to improve cordial relation, promotion of sustainable economy and social development”
She added that in her assumption of office she promised to help with the development in the Constituency and made mention of project she has undertaken in her eight months’ term of office like roofing of six units’ teacher’s accommodation, renovation of 4 classroom unit block, subsidising chemicals to farmers at 52% discount among others.
Responding to Nene Okukrubour Tei Kwesi Agyemang V request for a bus, she promise to buy one for the Osudoku council as well as meeting with the elder very soon to see the way forward.
The guest for the occasion, Hon. Gloria Akuffo, thanked the Chief for welcoming her home and also the President for letting her adorn his big boots.
She said, she had taken note of the Paramount’s speech, acknowledging the development that within the Presidents short term of office he has brought to Osudoku and would also deliver the request made by him to the President.
She advised the people to take advantage of developmental programs the Government was bringing into the community and also, it was their rights to demand for development. She also urged the Traditional Council and the Fetish Priest to settle all differences between them and accept change as change is bound to happen and commended the Paramount Chief and the Traditional Council for exercising the initiative meditative in trying to amicably resolve differences that has risen among the people as it will promote peace and development. “instigation breeds differences, differences breed disunity and disunity does not bring well for development” She stated. She ended her speech by, advising the people to be discipline and respectful as it make people like her proud native of the town.
