Effective and Efficient Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPES) in Covid19 Era

The Greater Accra Regional office of the National Commission on Culture in collaboration with Rescue Volunteers, Ghana on Thursday 11th February 2021 organized a stage art to educate the people of the Shai-Osudoku District on the effective and efficient ways to prevent COVID-19.

The event which was organized at the Dodowa Market car park was graced by the Cordinator for National Commission on Culture, Mrs Alice Alima Kala, Head of performing arts, Mr Daniel Clerk, District Information Officer, Mrs Cornelia Asante-Obeng, District Culture Officer, Mr Daniel Aquadah amongst others.

The coordinator, Mrs Alice Alima Kala said the purpose of the programme was to educate the people on the new wave of the virus that has hit the shores of Ghana.

She said “the new wave of COVID-19 has become deadlier than the former, adding that, the new virus doesn’t show any symptoms like the latter. Unlike the former one which shows signs like headache, cough, sore throat and the others, the new wave of COVID-19 does not show any symptoms. It gets you affected fast and kills you sooner than the former.

With the new wave, one can get infected even through mere touch, close contact and even when the saliva of an infected person touches your skin or when you inhale the breath of an infected person.

" Everyone must make it a point to wear his or her nose mask every time they leave their homes and at crowded places, the use of alcohol-based sanitizers should be done regularly when one touches money or exchange any item or object with anybody, washing of hands with soap under running water. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and the last but not the least is to have enough rest and avoid the use of air-conditioners and use the normal windows and louvre blades for natural air and ventilation.”

In view of this, a stage drama was done to give the people of Shai-Osudoku a better understanding of how the virus works and how to prevent it.

Some personal protective equipment (PPE’s) were given to the market women to help the fight against the deadly virus and also stop the spread. Some of these items were disposable nose mask, hand sanitizers, and handwashing soaps.
