DISBURSEMENT OF FUNDS AND ITEMS TO PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (PWDs) BY THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF THE SHAI- OSUDOKU DISTRICT ASSEMBLY.

The Social Welfare and Community Development Department of the Shai-Osudoku District Assembly has disbursed some Items and cash to persons with disabilities at the forecourt of the Assembly on Thursday 29th February 2024.

The total amount for both cash and items disbursed was GHS113,796 to 34 Persons with Disability (PWDs) in the Shai-Osudoku District to assist in their education and improve their living situations.

The items included deep freezers, hand-sewing machines, fufu pounding machines, bags of charcoal, laptops, deep freezers and cash donations for income-generation activities.

The District Chief Executive Hon.Fred Offei encouraged the beneficiaries in a brief address to use the money and goods for the purposes for which they were meant to get the necessary benefit.

The payments were divided into three categories: health care, education, and support for activities that generate revenue.

Some beneficiaries received money and a laptop to help with problems including school tuition and supplies for special education, basic education, and secondary education. Other beneficiaries received appliances, deep freezers, and fufu machines to enable them to make money on their own.

He stated that about "eight men with disabilities hailing from different parts of the country occupy top positions as the DCEs across the country".

He exhorted them to work even harder so they may rise to positions of greater responsibility both in the district and across the nation. Hon.Fred Offei declared that, as in past years, he would personally visit those who get donated items to make sure they were used for the intended purposes. As a result, he pleaded with them to use them so they could make money.

The District Director for Social Welfare and Community Development Madam Theresa Kutu cautioned them to use the cash and items for their intended purposes to gain benefits from it and not see themselves as less privileged.

Along with the District Chief Executive, Mr. Joshua Addy, the delegate from the National Council of Disabilities, encouraged the recipients to make the most of the things given to them to earn money.

He further expressed his gratitude to the District Chief Executive for being there and always prepared to assist them whenever he was called upon.
