JAPAN EMBASSY INSPECT A COMPLETED 3-UNIT CLASSROOM BLOCK AND 2-UNIT KG BLOCK AT AYENYA.

The Shai- Osudoku District welcomed a team from the Japanese Embassy to inspect a completed 3-unit classroom block and 2-unit KG block at Ayenya on Friday 15th September,2023.

The project was completed in 2020 to help the people in the Ayenya community have access to basic education and also improve teaching and learning.

In a routine monitoring visit, a two-member team from the Japanese Embassy together with the main stakeholders from the Shai Osudoku District visited the school to assess the Impact of the project since it was completed.

Speaking on behalf of the school the headmaster Mr. Devine Amenu expressed his delight and thanked all the various stakeholders who worked tirelessly to make sure the project was completed successfully and served the people of Ayenya and its environs.

He further explained how the project has improved teaching and learning, enrollment has also increased by 50 percent from 160 pupils to 257 pupils, also the environment is safe, comfortable, and conducive for learning.

Moreover, the school has a Facility Management Committee that meets regularly to discuss how to maintain the facility, through which the P.T.A. has purchased extra louver blades to replace the broken ones. With regard to security, there is no threat around the school environment.

There were some concerns raised by the headmaster of the school with regard to toilet facilities which are available but no water so using it has become difficult since it’s a water closet.

The lighting system too is costing them money with high electricity bills because there is no meter and they can’t locate the earth. Last but not least is leakages with some of the classrooms when it rains.

Addressing concerns raised, a representative from the Works Department Mr. Devine Fiawornu said water and electricity were not part of the project, so the Assembly is working on that to make sure the school water and electricity issues are resolved. With regard to the leakages, they will see to it that the issue is resolved as soon as possible.

In their final remark, the team from the Japanese Embassy expressed their joy at seeing the impact of the project it has made in the community and how the school authorities have managed and kept the school beautiful, safe, and conducive to learning. They said they look forward to future partnerships with the Assembly for projects within the District.
