Shai-Osudoku District Assembly holds 1st Ordinary Meeting.

The Shai-Osudoku District Assembly (SODA) on Wednesday 14th April 2021 at the Guggisberg Memorial  Hall in Dodowa held its 1st Ordinary meeting for the first quarter of the year.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) Hon. Daniel Teye Akuffo in his sessional address thanked the council of state member Hon. Enoch Teye Mensah for his presence.

On security, the  DCE indicated that unfortunately, the district has recorded two death in the past months as a result of robbery and landgaurd activities. He went ahead to say the security experts and the assembly are working together for the district to be a peaceful one.

Touching on revenue,, the DCE reported that the finance of the assembly is not impressive adding that revenue inflows went down as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the assembly's sources of income is to collect tax from inhabitants of the district and the quarry sites are no exception. As at 2018 the financial percentage of the district was 54%,65% in 2019 but dropped to 55% in 2020.

He further stated that, the assembly have to work on its property rate collection, saying management in collaboration with other investors who have shown interest and have the financial and technical resources to support the assembly will collect its property rate.

Shai-Osudoku District Assembly holds 1st Ordinary MeetingOn sanitation, he said the disposal of rubbish is so bad in the district and that management have spoken to the landowners at Ayikuma to convert an old gravel pit to a disposable site.

Speaking on education, Hon. Akuffo announced with excitement that the district educational background have improved in the JHS and SHS examinations.

 "I am happy to erase the speculation of low turnout on schools as a result of Covid-19 pandemic", he said.

I commend the assembly members and the education directorate for adding their voice to the go back to school campaign, which have yielded good results.

On health, he commended all the health workers in the district for a good work done adding that apart from Covid-19 pandemic no serious diseases have been recorded in the district.

On improvement of staff, the DCE said "I am happy to inform the house that, in May 2021 all staff will be subjected to the new clocking in system which will enable staff to be punctual."

 He, therefore, pleaded with the Council of State member to help the district with a poor road network that is the Adentan-Dodowa to Somanya stretch of road.

 Additionally, he said the district has no banks and that people from the district travel all the way to Adenta, Madina, and Legon for their banking transactions.

The Council of State member Hon. Enoch Teye Mensah assured the house that he would take all requests and appeals in the interest of the district into consideration.
