Shai-Osudoku District Assembly holds Budget Hearing for Stakeholders

The District Chief Executive for Shai Osudoku, Hon. Daniel Teye Akuffo in collaboration with the Budget Analyst Mr.Frank Assimeng and some management members have presented budget highlights and analysis for the 2021 fiscal year for major stakeholders in the District.

The meeting was in two sections in a day for two different days which were on the 17th to 18th March 2021 at the Methodist church(Dodowa) Ayikuma at the Pentecost church, Asutsuare area council, and Osuwem area council.

In his opening remarks, Hon. Akuffo said the rationale for the meeting was to educate stakeholders on how the district executed expenditure on funds from the government and taxes used in 2020 and their plans for 2021.

The Budget Analyst further explained the need for residents to pay their taxes and also the need for people of the district to obtain permits before embarking on any building project because that was the Assembly's source of generating income.

He said the programme was based on Budgeting and the passage of the Public Financial Management Act,2016, Act 921, seeks to include Social Accountability as one of the key areas for reform.

He said this meeting will ensure that the average citizen could easily understand Public Financial Information and can engage the Local government on core financial management issues.

The meeting ended with questions from the stakeholders which were addressed by Management of the Assembly.
