Shai-Osudoku District Celebrates 36th Annual National Farmers Day
The Shai-Osudoku District Assembly has celebrated this years' National Farmers' Day with a call on citizens to embrace the good agriculture initiatives of His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo.
The District Chief Executive Hon. Daniel Teye Akuffo who made the call said, the flagship programs have begun to yield positive results with the establishment of a tomato factory at Shai-Hills and a mango processing factory at Manya Jorpanya in the pipeline.
The Chief Executive said the annual celebration of Farmers Day instituted 36 years ago is a clear demonstration of government acknowledgement of the invaluable contributions of agriculture to the national economic development.
It was on the theme"ENSURING AGRIC BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT UNDER COVID-19 CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES"
Hon. Akuffo bemoaned the disturbing phenomenon in the district which is the greenbelt land earmarked for agriculture purposes being aggressively taken over for real estate development in the district.
"The issue needs bold policy intervention from our chiefs and opinion leaders to maintain the greenbelt for its intended purpose.
On the upcoming elections, He urged citizens of the district to go out on that day and exercise their franchise as citizens of Ghana without engaging in any form of violence or electoral malpractice adding the security services are on standby to deal decisively any miscreants.
