Two-Day Sensitization Workshop on Justice Delivery System Held In Shai-Osudoku District.

A Two-day sensitization workshop on Justice Delivery System has been held in Dodowa.

It was organized by the Legal Resource Centre, a Non- Governmental Organization in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The two-year program with the theme USAID Justice Sector Support Activity is being implemented in forty districts in 7 regions across the country to ensure that marginalized communities, through mobilization and innovative public education programmes.

The workshop which was held at the Guggisberg Memorial Hall in Dodowa ended on the 1st June 2022.

It was to support key stakeholders in the Justice delivery system to collect, collate and harmonize statistical data for effective justice delivery.

In 2018, the first Electronic Integrated Criminal Justice Case Tracking System was launched by the partnership.

Documentaries on community service in Africa was shown as an alternative to imprisonment, open forum on the lessons drawn from the documentary which included some question and answers, and a presentation on the Community Service Bill among several other presentations were also shown.

Some types of offenses to be considered when the bill is passed into law are minor assault or battery, forgery, drunk driving, first-time offenders, stealing, and minor drug offenses among others.

Some advantages of the Community Service Bill is the ease in congestion in the prisons and reduction in the number of backlog cases in the courts.

 It will also serve as a source of reformation for first-time offenders.
