61st Independence Parade
This year's independence parade for the district was held at Asutsuare R/C Basic School park. The colorful celebration of Ghana's independence was characterized by cultural display by some school pupils, march past by contingents from both public and private schools, presentation of awards to some schools and addresses by the District Chief Executive and the District Director of Education.
Hon. Daniel Akuffo, highlighted some impending projects and interventions that will accelerate the local economic development of the people in the district. These projects are the reconstruction of the Barley Bridge that links Akuse to Asutsuare which is already underway, the collaboration between Shai-Osudoku District Assembly, Alsom Farms and Hopline Institute to bring mechanization back to the rice farmers on the Kpong Irrigation Scheme(KIS).
He also stated in his anniversary address that SODA will continuously support the District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service to reverse the worsening BECE results in the district through several incentive packages and other initiatives. He further assured that, the security agencies are very alert to confront any miscreant who may want to foment trouble in the district.
