A DELEGATION FROM SODA AND KEY STAKEHOLDERS INSPECTED THE LAND PROPOSED FOR THE LORRY STATION AT HENYUM IN DODOWA.
On Wednesday, 13th August 2025, a delegation from the Shai-Osudoku District Assembly, led by the Development Planning Officer, Madam Dorothy Acquah, inspected the land proposed for the lorry station at Henyum in Dodowa with some key stakeholders.
The inspection became necessary as a result of the Assembly's efforts to expedite preparations for the project's commencement. The Assembly sought to solicit the input of all key stakeholders to sustain the gains in project implementation.
The stakeholders engaged include the branch chairman of the GPRTU, Mr. Joseph Aklesi, chairman of the matetse taxi union, Hon.Wisdom Ahialey, the Assembly member for Wedokum electoral area, Hon. William Osabutey, leaders of the market, Madam Grace Addo and Madam Alice Godson, rep of the land owners, District Environmental Health Officer Madam Agnes Korletey and District Works Engineer, Mr. Francis Agbo.
The Development Planning Officer, Madam Dorothy Acquah, stated that the main reason for the inspection was to solicit ideas from all the key stakeholders to make sure the project achieves its intended purpose. She also said the plan for the site will soon be out for all the stakeholders to express their views.
She further assured them that the project will help the Assembly and all the stakeholders in generating revenue.
The District Works Engineer, Mr. Francis Agbo, also stated that all the key stakeholders must collaborate and work together to make sure the project is successful. He also said this project, when completed, will generate revenue for both the Assembly and all the key stakeholders.
The GPRTU branch chairman, Mr. Joseph Aklesi, said the project, when completed, will help them generate more revenue since it will increase the number of vehicles within their domain.
The Chairman of the Matetse taxi union, also made an input regarding the access roads linking to some areas to the lorry station.
He further stated that a banking hall should be factored within the lorry station to help them with savings and other financial transactions.
A representative from the land owners, Mr. Emmanuel Fianio, also raised some concerns regarding regulating some of the vehicles that happen to operate as freelancers.
The issue of a task force to help coordinate activities of the lorry station was also addressed.
All the key stakeholders agreed that the project, when completed, will boost business activities within the district and also generate revenue to assist the District Assembly in its infrastructure developments.
